New Address, New Website, New Blog
Earlier this month the Appelago office moved from 22 Cortlandt Street to 160 Broadway. We only moved a block, but now my desk looks out of two giant windows. We are still located in Manhattan’s Financial District, but now we are right in the center of the “Canyon of Heroes.”
I didn’t realize this until the other day when the American women’s soccer team won the world cup and the street came alive with Ticker Tape paper. I have personally never been in a ticker tape parade, and it was crazy. We here at Appelago are on the 8th floor so we threw a few bags of shredded paper out the window and watched it drift down to the street.
Our President told me he’s actually been a part of several of them back in the 90s and there is actually an art to cutting paper into strips that will helicopter down slowly.
Oh, and not all of the paper people were dumping made it to the ground. For the next week the fire escapes on all the side streets looked like they had been TP’d by mischief night pranksters.
This Thursday was extremely windy, and that wind tunnel effect skyscrapers create loosened all the stray papers that were still hanging around on balconies and fire escapes, stealing the last remnants of the parade.
Now that we are settled in and have a new home base, I figured it was time to update our virtual home base as well.
I’m working on laying out this website Appelago.com for us, and it is updating as I go. I don’t think anyone is currently checking it out, but if you are watching me work, enjoy. It is really coming together fast, and I know we are being kind of vague about the various apps we have in development, but they are in the stealth stage, and we don’t want to spill the beans just yet.
We will keep you in the loop the second we do, because we are proud of them, and they are really gonna shake things up!
