Angry Birds 2 Launched …Let’s Start The Countdown To Angry Birds 3
The original mobile game Angry Birds came out in December 2009 for iOS. If you 3-star beat every level in the first week, you would only have have had to wait 294 more weeks before you would get to play part two!
Angry Birds 2 was released today on Android and iOS, just 5 years and 7 months after the first one became a hit. Watching the trailer alone might not give you any idea what the gameplay looks like. Here are a few of their promotional screen shots from the google play store.
It’s funny, I actually found out about the release this morning while I was on the J train going over the Williamsburg Bridge. The train got stopped on the bridge about five times for train traffic ahead so I took out my phone and started playing Angry Birds RIO.
The pause screen was an ad for Angry Birds 2. I had never seen that before, as Angry Birds 2 doesn’t exist…or it didn’t…UNTIL TODAY. I googled it, and yes, it had launched a few hours earlier.
So few people had downloaded it at that point it was just registering on the play store as 10 downloads. CRAZY!
If you haven’t played any of the Angry Birds series, from hearing that a part 2 had been released, you might assume there are two games. That would be a hugely inaccurate although plausible assumption. To say there have been a few games already in the series would be an understatement.

I think the Angry Birds franchise probably holds a record for most spin-offs and side game launches before coming out with an official sequel. I’m starting a Countdown Clock to see if they can produce Angry Birds 3 faster than Angry Birds 2. It took 2067 days from launching Angry Birds to launching Angry Birds 2. So 2067 days from today would be March 27, 2021. Lets see if Rovio can break their previous speed record, we’ll be waiting! (We will probably all be playing it on our Oculus Rift 5 and Google Glass 8 by then.)
